Once every few years, we have a ‘global’ health scare. Some time ago it was H1N1, then it was SARS and now Coronavirus.

Should we give in to this mass fear, or should we disregard it completely?

One of my customers, who is a highly trained surgeon, says we need to do a little bit of both. Take precautions like washing hands often, avoid shaking hands with someone who is sick, and stop worrying about what could go wrong.

Another important thing to do is to strengthen our immune system and keep it in ‘ready to fight’ mode.

A word about antibacterials and Coronavirus.

Use a home-made antibacterial handwash instead of a chemical-laden commercial soap/liquid. Some of these chemicals are bad for your body. Remember toothpaste/handwash which used to boast of having Triclosan?

That ingredient causes cancer!

Tea Tree Oil, Honey, Eucalyptus Oil and Neem Oil are some of the most potent antibacterials. Use these instead of a store brought ‘Doctor recommended’ ones.

Avoid eating exotic and imported meats. Experts believe Coronavirus may have emerged from a ‘wet food market’ in China known for selling live animals. The origin is suspected to be a bat or a pangolin.

Immunity is the key!

Your immunity determines the effect of viral influenzas on your body. If you have a weak immune system, the viral load multiplies rapidly, and recovery takes longer.

How to fight Coronavirus and keep yourself safe?

Here are some simple steps to keep yourself safe during this difficult time.

  1. Avoid handshakes and sharing cutlery with people who are ill.
  2. Eat more fresh fruits and veggies (citrus fruits, spinach, Broccoli, Ginger, Turmeric etc.)
  3. Consume fermented drinks and foods (Kefir, Kombucha, Saurkraut, Kimchi etc.)
  4. Stay Positive.

Staying positive has a multiplier effect on your body. Your mind has an intricate relationship with your body. So be positive and help your body.
